Officials view production of robot guides for tourist sector

A delegation of government officials led by Shi Yong, head of Pingyao county, visited an exhibition center at Pingyao Jiuxing Technology Co, to examine its production of robot guides for the tourist industry. 

Pingyao government officials learned about the processing, marketing, research and development, capacity and output of the robot guide plant. 

Afterwards, Shi said the company could further refine its production and display functions and develop more safe, intelligent and customized products based on 5G technology.

Shi added that as for its operations, the company could adjust its robot guides to meet the individual requirements of local scenic spots so they could improve their tourist services. 

Utilizing artificial intelligence, robotics and internet of things technologies, the company's robot guide plant covers 6.67 hectares. It cost around 30 million yuan ($4.25 million) and has a monthly production capacity of 600 units. 

In February, robot tourist guides went into service in the Ancient City of Pingyao, to help out with the tours of tourists. 

According to the company, the tourist guide project will expand to meet the needs of the tourist market in more regions such as Shanxi, Hebei and Henan provinces.
