Pingyao promotes public awareness of drug abuse

Officials said that Pingyao county staged an important promotional event on June 26 – the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. 

With its theme of healthy lifestyle and zero drug abuse, the event aimed to enhance the effectiveness of anti-drug promotions work. 

Officials said it also aimed to boost the public's awareness of drug control and further raise the public's ability to reject drugs by explaining what they are and the harm they can do, through exhibition boards and face-to-face talks. 

Observed on every June 26 since 1989, the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking is a United Nations International Day against drug abuse and the illegal drug trade. 

The UN Office on Drugs and Crime has been actively involved in launching campaigns to mobilize support for drug control and achieving the goal of an international society free of drug abuse.
