Pingyao, Kyakhta become sister cities

A delegation from Pingyao county in North China's Shanxi province visited Kyakhta, Russia from June 9 to 13.

Representatives from Pingyao county and Kyakhta held a government meeting on sister-city communication, the promotion of joint projects, and economic cooperation. 

In February this year, a Kyakhta delegation visited Pingyao for the first time, marking the beginning of cooperation between the two cities. 

During the meeting, the two sides discussed cooperation on the trade of farm produce and byproducts, as well as education. 

Pingyao and Kyakhta are two important cities on the China-Mongolia-Russia Tea Road and they have good prospects for cooperation in culture, tourism, and student exchanges, said Shi Yong, a top official of Pingyao county.
