Firefighting drill staged in Pingyao

Pingyao county held a fire safety knowledge training and emergency drill on June 6, according to local fire officials. 

Participants in the event included safety supervisors, the chief of the safety of the Ancient City of Pingyao, owners of shops and hotels in the Ancient City of Pingyao and local residents. 

A staff officer from Pingyao fire brigade was invited to explain firefighting methods and fire extinguisher usage -- to ensure trainees can independently fight fires and are on top of their rescue skills and to boost the public's fire safety awareness.

Officials said the event was an important part of the Ancient City of Pingyao Protection Promotion Week. 

It aims to further protect the world's cultural heritage site and realize the safe and sustainable development of the ancient city.
