China Cultural and Natural Heritage Day marked in Pingyao

Pingyao county marked this year's China Cultural and Natural Heritage Day on June 8 with a flourish, according to local officials. 

The local culture and tourism bureau launched a series of themed promotions to publicize cultural relics protection laws and regulations, introduce key cultural relics sites under protection and intangible cultural heritage in Pingyao -- and to raise public awareness about the need to protect cultural relics. 

As agreed by the State Council, China Cultural and Natural Heritage Day, which started in 2017, is celebrated on the second Saturday of June. 

Every year, the National Cultural Heritage Administration selects a city to host the cultural heritage day's home city activities.

Pingyao marked the special day last year with a photography and video exhibition, featuring 30 documentaries on culture and natural heritage protection, as well as by organizing several academic forums.
