Pingyao pays tribute to local doctors

China's first Doctors' Day was marked in Pingyao county with a celebration on Aug 17. The county's celebrations placed a special emphasis on the importance of respecting doctors and prioritizing healthcare.

The first national day dedicated to doctors officially fell two days later, on Aug 19.

Doctors' Day is now one of four national days dedicated to a certain profession, along with Nurses' Day, Teachers' Day, and Journalists' Day.

The national day aims to encourage doctors to take pride in their profession and encourage them to better serve society. Also, the day is designed to remind members of the public that it is their duty to respect doctors.
