Intl TCM formulas meeting concludes in Pingyao

The fifth Pingyao International Traditional Chinese Medicine Formula Forum concluded in Pingyao on May 27.

Classic TCM formulas or prescriptions developed over centuries are believed to be effective means of treating patients, and essential for demonstrating the practical value and worth of continuing to practice TCM treatments.

The forum aimed to establish a communication platform for experts from home and abroad, promote Shanxi TCM brands, and help make full use of TCM in treating diseases based on research and formulas promoted by the Pingyao Sanjin TCM Prescription Institute.

Pingyao is a major county for TCM development with more than 500 people employed in the TCM industry. It's the only tourism and healthcare demonstration base and the only pilot county for TCM comprehensive reform in Shanxi province.

"We hope that the forum will gather more ideas and experts in the TCM field and develop Pingyao into an influential TCM academic center for Shanxi, and perhaps even the rest of the country," said Shi Yong, a top government official of Pingyao, at the forum.

The two-day event included lectures by TCM formula experts and professors who gathered to share their research achievements and experience of TCM theories and clinical practice.
