Tourist rail line to be built in Pingyao

A tourist rail line project was launched at the opening ceremony of Pingyao Chinese New Year on Feb 8.

The first phase of the rail line project will connect the Ancient City of Pingyao, Shuanglin Temple with Datong-Xi’an high speed railway, extending 9.3 kilometers. It will be the first tourist rail line in China and the first county-level rail line in the country.

Upon completion, the tourist rail line will facilitate local traffic for tourism and provide visitors from home and abroad with sightseeing services by rail, helping improve Pingyao's tourism profile and urban construction.
