Pingyao tourism revenue exceeds 15b yuan in 2017

Pingyao county generated more than 15.05 billion yuan ($2.39 billion) in tourism revenue in 2017, representing year-on-year growth of 23.72 percent and leading the tourism development of Shanxi province.

In the past year, 12.97 million people visited Pingyao, an increase of 21.97 percent year on year. Primarily due to innovation, the tourism system reform and urban law enforcement reform, Pingyao transformed and upgraded its tourism industry in 2017 with reputation and influence increasingly rising.

The county ranked second in the list of 2017 ancient towns and villages with top brand influence and was lauded as “Chinese Tourism County” and one of most popular ancient towns and villages among netizens in 2017.
