Pingyao shows inventions at provincial exhibition

Three Pingyao county inventions were on display at an exhibition of the selected works of 2017 Shanxi Staff Innovation and Invention Competition held in Taiyuan from Jan 8 to 10.

The innovations include an integrated experiment instrument for light reflection and refraction invented by Huo Changlu, a physics teacher from the No 2 Middle School in local Boyi town, an interactive boring reamer device and an energy-saving and multispeed drive with constant power made by employees of Pingyao Reduction Gear Co.

More than 400 inventions made by employees from all walks of life were exhibited at the event.

Initiated in 2015, the Shanxi Staff Innovation and Invention Competition has expanded its area from industrial companies to various social groups, traditional industries to high-tech sectors and business giants to small and medium-sized enterprises.

The participants in 2017 amounted to 5.26 million, representing a year-on-year growth of 68.8 percent. The number of inventions reached 161,000, increasing 53.3 percent year on year. Among these inventions, 1,699 pieces have gained national patents.
