Agreement signed to build park promoting Shanxi merchants

China International Shanxi Merchants Association and the World Shanxi Merchants Association recently signed an agreement in Pingyao to build a park promoting the culture of Shanxi merchants.

With a history dating back to the Spring and Autumn Period (770-476 BC), Shanxi merchants flourished during the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties, becoming some of China’s top merchants.

The Shanxi Merchant Cultural Park will contact Shanxi merchants all around the world to conduct communication and collaboration in investment, trade, cultural exchange, and tourist services.

"We will establish the park in Pingyao as we intend to develop the Ancient City of Pingyao into a home for all Shanxi merchants at home and abroad," said Li Zhenhuan, chairman of China International Shanxi Merchants Association.

China International Shanxi Merchants Association and the World Shanxi Merchants Association are NGOs launched by Shanxi-born businesspeople from home and abroad. They aim to gather Shanxi merchants from all over the world, promote the spirit of Shanxi merchants, and advance cultural communication and regional development.
