Audience jury hands out awards at PYIFF

Pingyao International Film Festival (PYIFF) ended on Nov 4 with several prizes awarded for films shown during the eight-day event.

A jury made up of 55 audience members selected the most popular movies from five film categories at the festival, including the most popular actor and actress of the Galas section and the Best of Festivals section, after watching all films shown at the festival.

"The audience are vital to films and film festivals," said Peng Fei, director of The Taste of Rice Flower which won the Chinese New Generation film section, at the awards ceremony on Nov 4 in Pingyao.

By the end of Nov 2, more than 120,000 people had attended PYFF to watch 40 films with attendance at screenings reaching 93.7 percent.
