Fan Bingbing appointed PYIFF ambassador

The Pingyao International Film Festival (PYIFF) has recently announced the appointment of Chinese actress Fan Bingbing as the first PYIFF ambassador.

In May 2017, Fan Bingbing, as a jury member of the 70th Cannes International Film Festival, was present at the PYIFF promotion event in Cannes to show her support.

"As a Chinese actress, I'm willing to introduce talented Chinese filmmakers to film festivals all over the world and hope that Pingyao International Film Festival will get the world’s attention," Fan said at the promotion event.

After receiving the invitation to become the festival’s ambassador, Fan expressed her delight.

"I'm very honored to be the ambassador for this year’s Pingyao International Film Festival. It's a festival for both filmmakers and audiences. We will watch the best films from all around the world and find more possibilities for films in Pingyao."

Initiated by Chinese film director Jia Zhangke, PYIFF will be held in the Ancient City of Pingyao from Oct 28 to Nov 4. The film festival will be developed into a professional platform for highly-rated filmmakers, actors and films. The addition of Fan Bingbing will bring the event more attention from home and abroad.
