Pingyao founds association to boost local basketball

Pingyao Basketball Association was founded on July 6 in a local stadium.

The association will help organize basketball games and training, as well as promote events to popularize the sport in the county and train more professional players.

The establishment of a basketball association is part of a move by the Pingyao government to encourage exercise and improve public health. An outdoor hiking association and the Air-Boy Basketball Club were set up in June to promote public awareness of healthy lifestyles.

A basketball summer youth camp was also launched at the founding ceremony of the association.
