Pingyao documentary shown in Paris

A Young Patriot, a documentary featuring the story of a young person in Pingyao county has been playing in cinemas around Paris from June 5.

The documentary, directed by Du Haibin, talks about the life stories of a Pingyao-born young patriot surnamed Zhao who once shouted patriotic slogans in streets around the county. It records the emotional and mental changes in Zhao's life between the ages of 19 to 22 when he leaves his hometown for Chengdu and Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture in Sichuan province, where he attends university and works as a volunteer teacher.

From the perspective of Zhao, the film focuses on people's emotions and is set against the great changes in society in contemporary China. It won the Jury Prize in the documentary category at the 39th Hong Kong International Film Festival in 2015.

The film will be shown at Paris cinemas until June 15.
