"We hope that more teenagers in Pingyao will have books to read and develop the habit of reading," said Dong Xiaoqiang, an official of Pingyao Rural Commercial Bank, which donated about 500 books.
Five book-lovers delivered speeches on different themes, such as the birthplace of China's draft bank and children’s stories, sharing highlights from good books and reviews with attendees at the donation ceremony.
"The sharing meetings will guide children to reading and help them have an outlook on the world and improve their self-knowledge," said Wang Xumei, an official of Pingyao Experimental Primary School.
In addition, Xinhua Bookstore in the county distributed 500 volumes free of charge to children at Lijian Peiying primary school on April 24, the 80th anniversary of the bookshop.
