Due to a shortage of people with professional skills and a lack of investment, Pingyao has invited local-born entrepreneurs and people with professional skills working outside the county to return and help boost the local economy at a meeting held on April 3.
Recent government policies and work on urban construction, developing emerging industries, tourism and scientific innovation as well as furthering supply-side structural reforms were introduced to attendees.
To attract more Pingyao-born entrepreneurs and people with professional skills to expand their businesses in their hometown, Pingyao's government will offer preferential policies and create a better economic environment, according to Wu Xiaohua, a top official in the county.
Pingyao-born directors of chambers of commerce organizations across China and businesspeople, such as Zhao Yihong (chairman of Besunyen Holdings) and Zhang Peilu (president of Pingyao Chamber of Commerce in Wuhan), attended the meeting, expressing their expectations of contributing to the development of Pingyao.
Four projects, including establishing a rose park and a processing and production base for Pingyao yam, were also signed during the meeting.
