Students to advertise Pingyao

The historical charm of the Ancient City of Pingyao will be showcased through advertisements designed by undergraduates, as Pingyao signed an agreement with the organizing committee of the National Advertising Art Design Competition for College Students on March 15.

The culture and tourism of Pingyao will be one of the topics featured during the ninth advertising art design competition, according to the agreement. The two sides also furthered discussions regarding operating the competition and detailed rules of the event at the signing ceremony.

Initiated in 2005, the National Advertising Art Design Competition for College Students is China's largest communication platform for advertising for many universities and colleges with high-level arts courses.

This year's event started in early March and will last until December when the list of winners will be released and the best design pieces are exhibited.

The partnership between Pingyao and the competition is expected to promote the reputation of the UNESCO World Heritage Site among more than 800,000 undergraduates and some 2,000 colleges across China, helping boost local tourism.
