Agritourism offers new options for tourists

Tourists have been visiting villages and farms in Pingyao, as the county pushes forward with agritourism and moves to a tourism-based economy.

An orchard in Zhukeng town owned by Chunhe Planting Cooperative has become the new favorite of tourists. The orchard grows many kinds of fruit and has attracted quite a few visitors to sample its produce.

"Our cooperative has recently planted strawberries in an area measuring 1,333 square meters in two greenhouses for visitors coming during the Spring Festival holiday," said Qiao Dewen, the director of the cooperative.

Such projects and businesses are booming in Zhukeng town. The town has been improving the environment of its villages and advancing agritourism, which helps drive the local economy and benefits local residents. A series of tourist activities such as fruit picking, hiking, and farm experiences, are on offer to attract more visitors.
