Pingyao vocational education branches out into fine arts

Pingyao Modern Engineering Technical School, a local vocational school, will be the education base for the Academy of Fine Arts at Shanxi University, according to an agreement signed on Nov 24.

The two sides plan to further cooperation on faculty training, art education, internships, discipline management and other areas. The academy will help Pingyao Modern Engineering Technical School promote education in the arts, especially majors such as painting and traditional ancient architecture, advancing the establishment of distinctive disciplines in the school.

Wang Zhijun, deputy dean of the academy, and Wu Daming, director of the oil painting department, delivered an art-themed lecture after the signing ceremony and gave guidance to students in their art creations. A symposium was also held with art teachers at the Pingyao Modern Engineering Technical School to improve their teaching methods and quality.
