Pingyao promotes its tourism in France

A ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of a tourism promotion zone for Shanxi province's Pingyao city was held at Saint Ayoul monastery in Provins, France on July 8, according to shanxi.china.com.

More than 200 distinguished French guests attended the ceremony, including politicians from central and local governments, as well as the tourism representatives.

This zone is the latest development of the memorandum of cooperation signed between two cities last year.

The zone is located in Provins' Saint Ayoul monastery, which dates back more than 900 years. It consists of three main areas which are designed to promote Pingyao to French people, and tell them about the ancient city, its culture and values.

At the ceremony, the mayor of Provins thanked the Pingyao government for providing reciprocal promotion for the French town in Pingyao.

As China's first county-level city to have a promotion area in Europe, Pingyao has made great strides in its goal of building an international tourism destination. This progress will play a significant role in expanding the city's international influence and popularizing Chinese traditional culture.
