Five areas in Shanxi become all-region tourist destinations

Five areas of North China's Shanxi province are listed among the first national all-region tourist demonstration areas, announced the National Tourism Administration website recently.

Shanxi's Jinzhong city and counties of Huguan, Pingshun, Yangcheng, and Youyu, are among the 262 areas across China planned as all-region tourist destinations. This means that each such area as a whole is a tourist site and will be managed with all factors and the entire tourist industrial chain involved.

All-region tourism emphasizes an entire region as a tourist destination. This is different from the current scenic spot tourism in which scenic sites are usually independent from the region where they are located.

Under the all-region system tourism will boost construction and increase prosperity throughout a whole area. The system also adds innovation, coordination, greening, and easier access to industry, according to the national tourism administration.

The all-region tourist demonstration areas will have priority in central and regional budgets for investment, facilities development, promotional activities, and training.

In general, it takes 2-3 years to plan an all-region tourist demonstration area.
