Pingyao Ancient City and Provins, a ancient French city with a long history, are both UNESCO World Heritage sites. The former is a representative city of China’s Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1912) dynasties and the latter an embodiment of European culture in the Middle Ages (476-1640), Deputy County Chief Wang Dongguang said at the press conference held in Pingyao on Sept 7.
He added that with jointed efforts, the two cities have already reached consensus for cooperation. According to their agreement, the two ancient cities will set exhibition and promotion areas for one another to promote the two destinations and expand their market shares.
Pingyao and Provins achieved official friendship in 2005, becoming the first pair of sister cities listed in the World Heritages. In 2013, the two cities signed a cooperative memorandum to strengthen communication and achieve mutual benefits.
