Shanxi set emergency system for migrant wages

By the end of July, all cities in Shanxi province have established emergency system to guarantee the wages of migrant workers .

The province has raised 379 million yuan ($59.28 million) to pay migrant workers in emergencies, according to Shanxi’s Department of Human Resources and Social Security.

The system is the last measure to guarantee that the wages for migrant workers are paid on time, an official of the department explained,

For construction projects with wage surety, the government can turn to the system to pay the migrant workers’ unpaid wages, which the employers can repay later. For those illegal projects whose employers who cannot afford payments or disappear without paying, the government, together with labor unions, will help migrant workers make ends meet.
