22 foreign colleges and universities worldwide will participate in the 2015 Pingyao International Photography Festival (PIP) that will take place in the Ancient City of Pingyao, Shanxi province in this September.
Photography exhibitions created by universities and colleges students are the newest part of PIP. Early in 2010, Susan Dooley, a US exhibition organizer, organized a photography competition in American universities and colleges. Since then, she has organized a photography competition for US students every year, and winning works are exhibited at PIP.
Sian Bonnell from the UK has brought works from 11 UK universities and colleges in 2014, when PIP marked the first large exhibition of UK students’ photography.
After years of development, it’s now a stage for young photographers to get the attention of domestic and foreign photographers, exhibition organizers and reviewers. Meanwhile, photography competitions in universities and colleges are a popular approach to select good works for PIP.
This year’s PIP will welcome works from world renowned universities and colleges such as Parsons’ New School for Design, New York Film Academy and Royal Melboume Institute of Technology University.
The works recognized as reflecting the new generation and representing the future of photography.
