North China's Shanxi province has released measures on tourism reform and development in June, involving tourism infrastructure, routes, policies and mechanisms.

The province will prioritize Wi-Fi network construction in scenic areas and tourism cities, with the aim of complete coverage in three years.

The newly released tourism measures emphasize integrating tourism with related industries such as culture and agriculture.

In the next three years, Shanxi plans to foster 100 tourism towns, 1,000 tourism villages and 10,000 households for agritainment. Earlier, the province issued some policies to alleviate poverty through tourism. It decided to support 300 poverty-stricken villages for three years by developing tourism.

There are three reforms in the tourism industry, through which the province emphasized that the management rights of state-owned resources and products will be open to social capital and encourage multiple sources of capital for tourism.

It will select several counties as pilots of tourism reform, to direct tourism as the leading industry.

These measures also targeted disorders in tourism markets and uncivilized behavior. It will set service-level systems and information publicity systems for tourism enterprises and practitioners.

These measures also concern financing channels, preferential policies, and implementation of paid holiday as well as the spring holiday for the colleges and universities.
