Pingyao Ancient City on display in New York

The filming of a documentary in Shanxi's Ancient City of Pingyao, the birthplace of first piaohao, was completed by American ICN TV Network.

It is the second cooperation between Pingyao Ancient City and ICN. Titled "Chinese Wall Street", this documentary records the rise and decline of Pingyao piaohao, a banking firm that provided merchants or long-distance travelers with drafts that they could exchange for cash at specified branches; and explores the sources that contributed to the ancient city's critical role in Qing Dynasty (1644-1911).

The documentary will be broadcast in the US and Europe. Youku, a Chinese video website, will open a special column for it.

Moreover, this documentary will be played on the giant screen at New York's Times Square. It will be the second time that the Ancient City of Pingyao is shown on this screen. It made its debut at the square through a travel program made by ICN TV.
