Australian charity helps hearing-impaired in Shanxi

ABC Tissue Hearing Express, an Australian charity for the hearing-impaired, arrived in Shanxi on June 1, with a donation valued over 15 million yuan. ($24.2 million).

This is Hearing Express's third journey to Shanxi. 3,000 hearing-impaired adults throughout the province will receive hearing aids, and 500 teenagers will get audiometry tests and fit hearing aids. Moreover, 1,600 hearing-impaired children from 23 special education schools will also benefit from this project.

ABC Tissue Hearing Express is a charity initiative of the president of Australia’s ABC Tissue Products Pty Ltd, Wei Jicheng, aiming to help hearing impaired people who cannot afford hearing aids.

The express arrived in Shanxi in 2013 for the first time. To date, the project has donated 40,000 hearing aids to the province’s hearing-impaired.
