Pingyao Beef Museum to open

The Pingyao Beef Museum will open in the Ancient City of Pingyao, Shanxi province, soon.

Pingyao beef is one of the ancient city's specialties. It was popular as early as the mid-Ming Dynasty (1368-1644).

The Pingyao Beef Museum began construction in May 2014 with a total investment of 50 million yuan ($8.06 million). Sixteen halls were mapped out in a total area of 3,320 square meters to display the cultural connotation embodied by this food in a comprehensive way, through scenes, videos, photos, models or sculptures.

In addition to Pingyao beef, the museum will also be a showcase to display Shanxi merchant culture, Pingyao history and culture, as well as Shanxi noodles.
