Pingyao holds barter trade fair

Pingyao in North China's Shanxi province held the first barter trade fair on April 17. More than 300 enterprises from diversified industries such as real estate, auto, building materials and food took part in the trade fair. Some enterprises in the teritary industries also participated in this trade fair with their service products.

The trade fair's turnover hit 21.9 million yuan ($3.53 million) on the day.

"Bartering is an effective way to help enterprises run down stocks and also avoid purchasing raw materials by cash," said one of the trade fair's orognizers.

Through online e-commerce and offline barter trade centers, more enterprises in the province have started to use bartering methods and models into their marketing and operation, and to push the province's economy into a more virtous cycle, said the organizer.
