Pingyao wins most popular self-driving route

The Ancient City of Pingyao in North China's Shanxi province recently emerged in first place among self-driving travel destinations.

The selection of self-driving travel routes was a part of the 2015 China Road Trip Festival. Based on authoritative organizations in the fields of automotive travel and main stream media, this selection aims to recommend travel routes for self-driving travelers, including long, medium and short distance routes.

After the online votes and expert evaluations, Pingyao ancient city stood out from other short distance routes for its ancient architecture.

"The towering city walls are ancient and solemn. The city's streets, stores and residential houses are preserved in the traditional layout and style. The wonderful Shanxi merchants' culture and unsophisticated folkway of Jinzhong have infused in the city a quiet and reserved style," a motorist explained why he traveled to Pingyao.
