A "Jinzhong" train starts maiden trip on April 8 from Xi'an in Shaanxi province.

Three trains running on Daxi High-speed Railway (linking Datong in Shanxi province with Xi'an in Shaanxi province) were named after Jinzhong, a city in Shanxi province, on April 8. The three trains, D2502, D2533 and D2534, took their maiden voyage on the same day from Xi'an North Railway Station in Shaanxi province.

Jinzhong boasts profound cultural and tourism resources. To date, there are 140 tourism spots in the city, including some household names such as the Ancient City of Pingyao and the Qiao Family Compound. Tourism is a strategic pillar for the city's economic restructuring.

Daxi Railway runs through Jinzhong and connected the city's many tourism attractions. It shortens the travel time between Jinzhong and Southwestern cities like Xi'an. From the railway's official operation in July, 2014, the number of Shaanxi tourists reached 450,000 per month and increased by 20 percent annually.

Jinzhong took this train naming as an important measure to promote local tourism. There will be promotions in all three "Jinzhong" trains, such as posters, broadcasts, LED screens and train televisions.

Moreover, Jinzhong will carry out a series of tourist-friendly policies, especially for those from Southwest China so as to expand popularity in the region.
