Martial arts on stage in Pingyao

The martial arts association of Pingyao county, Shanxi province arranged a martial arts performance in a nearby village, on March 16, with around 100 practitioners and fans taking part.

Martial arts have a long history in the county, which is the home of Wang Zhengqing (1801-1877), of the Qing Dynasty, who gained renown in the sport and it has acquired a number of martial arts clubs in recent years and has trained many members of the younger generation.

This particular performance had a wide variety of martial arts schools and styles on display, with Chinese boxing, cudgels, spears, and swords to entertain the local audience. It also provided a good opportunity for martial arts lovers to share their skills and to promote this traditional culture.
