Electric travel in old Pingyao

The Old City of Pingyao, a World Heritage site in Shanxi province that is known for its Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1636-1912) dynasty history, is now promoting electric vehicle tours of its favorite spots, for more orderly movement and a better environment.

The Pingyao county transportation center got together with the local police to organize a training session for e-vehicle drivers and the e-tour administrative staff, on Mar 9, with the focus on the route -- a network of narrow lanes -- and operational details. The county is a key national tourist spot and has been asked to organize its tourist traffic better, hence the new tour routes, which are the result of careful research by the local transport administration.

The county reminds the drivers and other personnel involved with the e-tour system to obey regulations and maintain order and to work with other government departments.
