Shanxi coal industry to highlight three brand advantages

Shanxi will highlight its advantages in steam coal, coking coal and bituminous coal in 2015, while accelerating the construction of three coal bases, three coal power bases and a modern coal chemical base, according to a senior provincial official.

In 2015, Shanxi also plans to control the amount of coal production, said Yang Maolin, deputy head of the provincial coal industry management bureau, on March 3.

According to the overall plan, the construction of Shanxi's three coal bases, namely the steam coal base in north Shanxi, the coking coal base located in central Shanxi and the bituminous coal base in east Shanxi, will involve six big coal groups, such as Datong Coal Mine Group, Shanxi Coking Coal Group and Yangquan Coal Industry Group.

In his report addressed to a videoconference, Yang also said that based on the rich steam coal in the north, Shanxi will rev up the coal power industry's upgrading and transformation through boosting the three bases this year.
