Shanxi's three scenic spots make list of China's destinations of cultural tourism

The UNESCO heritage site of Pingyao and the 5A scenic spot of the House of Chancellor Huangcheng in Shanxi province made it on the list of the 36 most valuable destinations of cultural (heritage) tourism at the China Cultural Heritage Protection and Tourism Development Conference and the first Promotion Conference of Most Valuable Cultural Heritage on Feb 6 in Beijing.

In addition, the province’s Hongdong county in the city of Linfen was chosen as one of China’s 14 most valuable tourist destinations at the same event.

Starting this past September, the promotional events on valuable tourist destinations were organized and held by the China Culture Relics Protection Foundation, China Tourism News and Xinhua Video.

Other most valuable destinations of cultural (heritage) tourism included the mountain resort in Chengde, Hebei province. Quanzhou city in South China’s Fujian province and Zhengding county in Hebei province were also on the list of the most valuable tourist destinations in the event.

The event was designed to showcase achievements in cultural heritage protection and tourism development and promote new cultural and historical sights, routes and products via newspapers, TV, Internet, mobile Internet and outdoor billboards.
