Free tickets to Pingyao culture program

The managers of the experiential play, "Ancient Pingyao Once Again", in Pingyao county, Shanxi province, announced, on Feb 6, that the play will be free to all students and teenagers with a permanent residence permit for this year's Spring Festival.

To qualify, they had to register with management, at 9:30 am, and within 20 minutes all of the 1,800 tickets were sold. The list of ticket holders was posted on the play's Wechat account and the managers notified the audience that there were schedule changes and that people should check the new timetable before heading to the theatre.

The play is China's first indoor experiential play and a major county culture program as a part of the 12th national "Five-year Plan". Since its debut on Feb 18, 2013, there have been at least 1,300 performances, and at least 640,000 people in the audience.

Show times for Spring Festival will be 7:00 pm daily, from Feb 20 (second day of the Lunar New Year). After Feb 21, there will be an additional performance at 2:00 pm daily and there may be occasional encores depending on customer demand. Ticket holders should pay close attention to the updates on Wechat.
