World Heritage in China improves its tourism safety

Pingyao county, Shanxi province is having a three-month public safety check across the county, but especially in popular tourist sites because of its global renown, to prevent any repeats of the tragic safety lapse at the "12.31" stampede in Shanghai. In February, its tourism bureau began a troubleshooting exercise to look for problems in every part of the county, and will work out some recommendations as a result. Other concerns of the safety check are supervision of the safety process, evaluating safety installations, and publicizing safety matters among the public.
