At the start of the New Year, 15 Chinese cities together introduced winter tourism discounts that run to the end of February, to boost tourism during the cold weather, with their city or county tourism bureaus working on a range of winter activities with hot-spring, skiing, or snow themes.
The cities are Taiyuan, Jinzhong and Pingyao county, and Yangquan (Shanxi province); Greater Beijing; Greater Tianjin; Shijiazhuang, Baoding, Xingtai, Handan, Cangzhou, and Hengshui (Hebei province); Anyang (Henan province); and Dezhou, Liaocheng, and Penglai (Shandong province). The participating cities will have hundreds of tourist spots open free to tourists, or at least at a discount, with plenty of events. People who are residents of the participating cities will get preferential treatment.
