A more livable Pingyao

Pingyao county, in Shanxi province has been improving its sanitation for some time now with the aim of providing a cozier environment for locals and tourists alike, to respect its famous heritage, and has done quite a lot, according to Hu Jinliang, it vice-head who announced that he is satisfied with the results, while he accompanied a group that came to get a look at the clean-up project, on Dec 30.

While carrying out the project, the county has been setting up sanitation-control teams in 273 villages, at an estimated cost of 18 million yuan ($2.9 million), covering main roads and streets, highways, and all communities while establishing standards and increasing public awareness of the need to protect their communities and get more people involved.

The guests got a close look at 26 spots and saw good results wherever they went, so the county head has said that future work on the project use more advanced technology to clean up the environment.
