Old Chinese town starts winter tourism market activities

During North China's cold winters, its tourism obviously may not be as hot as during the summertime, so, to give its tourism a bit of a boost this winter, Pingyao county, in cold Shanxi province is pushing some new events and marketing its tourism projects.

The county has added some folk shows in the old town area to catch tourists' eye, while shop owners in and around tourist destinations have come up with their own ideas. And their efforts have paid, for example, when a large travel group of more than 800 people came to the county, on Dec 10.

The tourism bureau still wants to design more interesting travel routes and themed activities and to find innovative approaches to its publicity.
