Huge discounts in Jinzhong tourism

The city of Jinzhong, Shanxi province, has been providing free entry to local college students and teachers, at 20 of its top tourist spots, including old Pingyao county, thanks to the generosity of the local tourism bureau.

This offer, which started this December and runs to January 31, could benefit about 250,000 students and teachers, who only need a student card or teacher's card and an ID to get into the old town area of Pingyao, as well as temples, courtyards, castles, museums and resorts participating in the special offer.

They also get access to a popular experiential play, Ancient Pingyao Once More, for just 50 yuan ($8), instead of the usual several hundred yuan.
