Green agriculture sees all-round development in Pingyao

The greening of agriculture has contributed largely lot to the economy of Pingyao county, Shanxi province this year, after it began encouraging some green agricultural projects involving dried fruits, forestry, traditional Chinese medicine planting, and green animal husbandry.

Two new agriculture parks -- the Fengyan Ecological Tour Park and the Weijiazhuang natural black fungus plantation -- which cost more than 8 million yuan ($1.3 million), a 330,000-square-meter walnut grove, a 230,000-square-meter traditional Chinese herb farm, and a 53,000-square–meter wheat farm. The county also enlarged its numbers of cattle, sheep and chickens. Its total revenue from agricultural products was 13 million yuan this year.
