Foreigner tourism businesses examine Shanxi heritage

Salespeople from 32 countries got a greater understanding of tourist projects in Pingyao county, Shanxi province, Nov 17 - 20, as part of an International Travelling Salespeople Conference that the provincial government put on.

People from the US, UK, Ireland, Switzerland, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, Spain, Italy, Japan, India, Mongolia, South Korea, SE Asian, and elsewhere got a close look at the county and its World Heritage site, thanks to China's National Tourism Administration who was hoping to leave a good impression on them with Shanxi's tourism resources.

In a square, in the town of the same name, Pingyao people showed the guests a traditional welcoming ceremony and gave a drum and dance performance characteristic of the county, which dates back 2800 years.

Chris Spring, one of the visitors from the US, said that the large group of well-preserved relics left a great impression and the he definitely will introduce his clients and friends to Pingyao as a tourist destination and Xue Yaping, head of China's National Tourism Administration's New York office, was positive as well about the effect of this cultural event, according to pingyao.gov.cn.
