Urban engineering taking off in Pingyao

The county of Pingyao, Shanxi province got its National People's Congress members to go look at local engineering projects, on Nov 12, after having decided earlier this year to set a goal for enlarging agriculture, industrial clusters, and tourism programs.

The county has begun more projects with a wider scope and larger investment, and is considering the social benefits. Work has begun on all 69 of its new projects at an estimated cost of 33-billion yuan ($5.4 billion).

Yang Dengwen, head of the county's People's Congress standing committee, and Han Jun, deputy head of the county, joined other officials paid a visit to some key projects, such as an electrical machine factory, an urban heating project, construction work at the front of the old town area, transportation projects, Huiji Park, Yingxun Park, a chicken raising project, a nursing home in the village of Duancun, and a Shiyan Primary School project.

There was a seminar arranged afterwards for discussing how to improve management, capital security, and the construction of support facilities.
