Pingyao attracts $2 billion investments during photography festival

An investment promotion fair of Pingyao county, Shanxi province, took place on Sept 21, securing eleven programs with a total investment of 12.5 billion yuan ($2 billion).

Taking advantage of the advertizing effects of its cultural brand, Pingyao has been hosting the fair annually during the photography festival since 2006. A number of programs have been completed through such a channel and over the years they have all helped Pingyao with its industry upgrade and economic aggregation.

This year's projects involve the agricultural, cultural, tourism and other industries. For example, the agricultural projects include the plantation of traditional Chinese herbs, flower cultivation, and a fruit and vegetable processing chain; the industrial projects include the treatment of dust and coal ash, and a construction materials production line; the cultural project includes the construction of Hanshi Cultural Innovation Park.

Also, Pingyao is largely developing its new energy, and currently it is constructing two wind power plants.
