To celebrate Teacher's Day, the crew of the experiential play, Ancient Pingyao Once More, will put on free shows for school teachers nationwide. They will be at 2 pm and 8 pm each day from Sept 9 to 11, in Pingyao county, North China's Shanxi province.
The play takes place in an artificially constructed town, a creative staging of late-Qing-era Pingyao. Audiences call it a "living drama" without a stage. Since its debut on Feb 18, 2013, the play has won wide recognition among tourists to Pingyao from home and abroad. It is a key cultural project in the process of Shanxi's transformation from industrial province to cultural and tourism-based economy. It is also the first experiential play of its kind in Shanxi, touring while watching. It tells the story of a Shanxi merchant with good virtues, who loves to help other people. It presents a revitalization of society in the Ming and Qing dynasties of China.
Teachers from the whole country can book the show online or by telephone, and are permitted to enter with their Teacher Certification.
