Ecological resort for Pingyao

Han Jun, vice-county leader of Pingyao in Northern China's Shanxi province, has visited the construction site of an ecological tourism park, to monitor progress.

The project, with an investment of more than 10 billion yuan ($1.6 billion), will integrate leisure activities, including health care, spa therapy, conference services, a sports center and ecological tourism, and make use of natural springs and the ecological environment. The park will allow visitors to explore the thousand-year history of the ancient city of Pingyao and Shanxi merchant culture dating to the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). The project, combining natural and cultural resources in Datong, will result in a multi-functional international resort.
