The Shanxi and Taiwan cultural exchange fair was held in Taiyuan, capital of northern China's Shanxi province from July 6-15. It was part of a larger series of cultural exchanges between the mainland and Taiwan. The visit saw guests tour the ancient city of Pingyao to better know Shanxi culture.
The visit to Pingyao provided the visitors with a good opportunity to see the historical landscape of the city, and to explore tourism resources. They were attracted to the cultural heritage and Shanxi folk customs and suggested strengthening cultural cooperation between the two sides.
As a key cultural project the activity included a Shanxi cultural development seminar, a mainland and Taiwan cultural exchange seminar and calligrapher communications across the Taiwan Straits.
The cultural exchange series began in 2001 and has previously covered visits to Anhui, Yunnan, Gansu, Henan, Hubei, Shaanxi and Hebei provinces.
