LNG project in Pingyao ready for production

A Liquefied Natural Gas plant and pipeline project in Pingyao was finished recently.

Invested by Shanxi Natural Gas Co., Ltd and Pingyao Coal Chemical Group Co., Ltd, the LNG project is expected to produce 1.2 million cubic meters of liquefied natural gas. With a total investment of 680 million yuan ($109.23 million), the project consists of 62,336 feet of gas pipeline, an LNG plant and an auxiliary project.

During the second phase, the project will provide 288,000 tons of liquefied natural gas and meet reduction targets for carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide, carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxide and dust of 910,000 tons, 2,200 tons, 7,000 tons, 2,600 tons and 80,000 tons, respectively.

The LNG project will reach average annual operating revenue of 981.27 million yuan ($157.69 million), average annual profit of 104.16 million yuan ($16.74 million), providing an average annual tax of 166.65 million yuan ($26.77 million). The project will create more than 200 job opportunities and provide clean and high-quality energy for 40,000 households.

As a key project of the transformation of environmental protection enterprise for coal mining in Pingyao, it can be of strategic importance to enhance the LNG capacity for emergent needs, optimize the energy resource structure and promote a low-carbon economy in Shanxi province.
